Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist JJ Mangino (formerly J Gino).
How did you decide to become an artist?
JJ Mangino (formerly J Gino): I have been around music my whole life since my father was in a blues/motown band. I got into hiphop when I was about 12. I started making beats and writing lyrics when I was fifteen and been doing it ever since.
The best advice I received was…if you don’t invest in yourself how can you expect others to?
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I don’t play live, but I have done a few shows.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Italiano is the motto and the way of live, want a piece of mind I got the pies by the slice.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on my fourth album titled ” Gambling With Fame” scheduled to be released in the summer of 2014.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would. The pros are you would have financial backing with promotion and marketing. The cons are giving away most of your money and creativity to the label.
