Featured artist: Franchise (The Young God) - More Talent in D.C. Thank You Think

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Franchise (The Young God).

How did you decide to become an artist?

Franchise (The Young God): I have been rapping for as long as I could remember. I used to rap in the living room with my brothers and uncles. I began writhing in 5th grade and recording in 10th grade, at first on a cell phone then i bough a laptop and mic and I’ve been recording that way since late 11th early 12th grade.

My uncle will tells me ”Perfect your craft don’t focus on money, fame, or being the best. Make great music and people will notice”

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I have performed live in several places: The Axum Lounge, The Red Lounge, and at open mics.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

That’s up to people who listen to my music to decide

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

After I graduated high school I released my first mix tape ”Identity Crisis” August 1st 2013 I think i rushed it a bit so I’m not comfy with it, and now I’m working on my second tape ”The Journal Entry” trying to make greater music and things that’ll resonate with people. I hope I can make something people can feel.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

If I were to sign a deal I’d have to feel I’m ready for it and it wasn’t ripping me off. I’d need to do a lot of research and get a lawyer to back me up, besides that I’d just need to make sure I had creative control and music I’m comfortable with releasing

Any last words?
