Featured artist: Don Scott - An Interview With Upcoming Artist Don Scott
Honesty and sincerity in the music and confidence in yourself is everything, once you’re audience call tell you’re not being honest or faking it thats like blood in the water
Upcoming underground artist Don Scott just answered some questions. Checkout the interview below and share if you like it.
Thanks for your time. How did you decide to become an artist?
Don Scott: Well I’ve been a producer for a couple years now and a Hip Hop fanatic for even longer. I was making beats for other artists for a while while trying to become a better writer and rapper on my own. recently a few things just clicked and I think I’ve finally found my sound and my message.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Not much as of yet, I’ve got a couple things planned for the summer, hopefully opening up for some guys I really respect. In 2014 your live show is everything its the actual tangible product your music is advertising so ya, I can’t wait to get out there and hopefully win over a few crowds
Best punchline you ever wrote?
”See I’m just trying to live better, maybe Scott could grow up get him a Coretta, treat me like king man probably live forever if I don’t best believe the eulogy is something clever”
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m working on a currently nameless EP that’ll be out on Itunes hopefully near the end of the summer. Allot of good music comes out these days and one thing I’ve learned is that you can’t just throw out a couple dope songs and expect people to respond you’ve got to create worlds for them to live in for a while. Allot of people I look up to like Kendrick, Kanye and Childish Gambino have really set the bar extremely high with the worlds they’ve created and I don’t want to put out a project unless I’m certain that I’m truly giving the listener an experience
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don’t know if I will ever sign to one of the big guys I think signing to a good manager and putting out great music, visuals and merchandise for your fans is all you really need. I look at some of the big guys who are doing it huge right now like Chance or even TDE and its amazing just to see how they did it on their own with very little help. Its even more rewarding when you build it from the ground up. I see myself working with the same people I work with now until it gets too big for us to handle ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Shoutouts and credits to the fam?
I’d like to shout out Brooklyn New York and everyone helping me out with the music and the visuals.
My best bud Niall who’s helping me Mix and record the project, Justin Lessey (Producer/Groupie manager), Austin( Rapper) and my absurdly talented homie Kevin who does all of my cover art, is currently working on the video for my single ” The Wild” and launching our clothing line ” Mysfit Society” really soon. Last but not least I’d like to thank Dee Sonaram and my friend Harry Manin for introducing us. Dee’s a pretty accomplished dude in the industry and has been helping me on the management front. Definitely one of the first guys to really see potential in the music and where we want to go with it.
