Ailawishes: The Songwriting Queen. Small-time but still BIG

Featured artist: Ailawishes - Ailawishes: The Songwriting Queen. Small-time but still BIG

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Ailawishes.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Ailawishes: Well I am a writer first. Music is in my family. Being born and raised within the family of an awesome jazz great Dizzy Gillespie was enough inspiration to explore more. I started writing books.. then songs and working with known artists in the industry. Several artists immediately saw my drive and opened opportunities for me to write on their projects. From there it just became word of mouth where one artist recommended me to another.

As a writer, the best advice given was "Never write for an artist that you dont trust."

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I don't play live but I create live events for some of my indie artist whom I manage. They participate in live showcases as well as perform live in several known Jazz and Poetry spots throughout the U.S. I am also the advisor of two female global artists.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I don't have a punchline but I will say to everyone who's grinding trying to make it to the top "never give up"!

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

Currently I am working on writing a new song. Just got the track last week so I don't want to release any details about it just yet. Lol want to keep it a little low for now because its written for a signed artist. With certain artist songs I can disclose information, but with this one unfortunately I can't.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Currently I am signed to a record label for somgwriting. Most of my clients are artists from Columbia Records. In my opinion, staying independent is where it's at. Being independent allows you to keep total control of your projects but most importantly your voice in this industry. I'm not saying don't sign, but only if there is an amazing deal on the table.

Any last words?

I just want to shout out my REAL supporters. Those who buy the songs that I've written for artists and those who support the artists whom I am affiliated. I really appreciate the support.
