Featured artist: Atlas Major - Rap In The Caribbean
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Atlas Major.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Atlas Major: I have always been around music, so it was only a matter of time before I grew an interest in making it. It’s also a way of venting and getting out the things that are on my mind.
I would say the best advice given to me was when a friend of mine told me ”Your never going to perfect rapping and your never going to get to a point where you’ll stop progressing. You’ll keep learning and progressing until you die.” Which helped me then to focus on getting better all the time rather than get over confident or too prodeful
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I perform whenever I can although It’s just mainly small shows for now. Being that I’m in tha caribbean the market for hip-hop isn’t as big as dancehall or reggae so we would have to work harder to get recognition.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I’m busy spittin’ flows like my saliva just stirred up a torrent, to show you all that water ways ain’t the only thing current.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m currently working on 2 mixtapes that I plan to drop later this year
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would be glad to sign with a major label aslong as I have creative control because as far as I see it the bigger the audience, the more people to listen to my message.
Any last words?
I’d like to shout out to everyone who takes the time out to listen to my music, as well as the team that helps me to make it and for those who didn’t know I always rep for the city of Belize.
