Featured artist: SERIOUS - Serious, he’s more than an artist…he’s a Brand
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist SERIOUS.
How did you decide to become an artist?
SERIOUS: I started writing out of frustration and having no one to really talk to. People would tell me to make songs out of the poems I would write. Someone said, ”Damn dude got some Serious bars.” So I adopted the name SERIOUS and the rest is history.
The best advice someone gave me was, ”keep your creative control and never sign your publishing and merchandising away.”
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, I have performed live and I am planning a concert for the end of this summer.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I have lots of punchlines!…but I like, ”YOU CAN KISS MY ASS WITCHA GRANDMOMMA LIPS/ I BE SPITTIN’ FLAME YOU CAN BARBEQUE SOME RIB TIPS/..ON MY TONGUE, I’M NUMBER ONE IN THE STREETS/ I AM THA FUTURE ALL YOU NICCAZ OBSOLETE/
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on a new project titled ”HOODIES and HOMELAND SECURITY.” I also have an album in 5 digital stores including ITUNES and GOOGLE PLAY STORE titled ”DIGITAL DOPE” by Serious
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I would but only if it favors me. The pros are that being signed you have that machine behind you taking care of things that independent artist have to do on our own. One of the cons is being a slave to that machine.
Any last words?
I want to shoutout Cook County, IL, Shelby County, TN my second home. The DMV (east coast), Young CO, Tone Yates, the whole 5MIC ENT/ Tha MoneyTrain Gang Corp. family.
