Featured artist: Shaadie - Shaadie: The Bay Area's best unsigned artist
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Shaadie.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Shaadie: I've always been an entertainer. From being the class clown to the exceptional athlete I've always liked to perform & have been very good at it. Music was just another Yah given talent that seemed to be a passion since I was 2 years old dancing around for my family while tryna sing songs. By the age of 5 I was reciting word for word songs off the radio & able to input my name or other things I saw within the original song. Once I hit middle school in Vallejo, CA I linked up with friend & we started a rap group called RAU (Raw And Untouchable) and that's when I started actually writing songs, making beats & getting in studios the times hat I wasn't in school or practice for whatever sport I was playing.
The best advice I got has been an accumulation of different kind & motovating words of encouragement throughout my years of honing my craft. They all simply combine to say "stay confident & consistent in what you do & want to create. Don't let anyone stop you from doing you."
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes of course I play live & give concerts. That's the best way to practice your stage presence and material in front of a live audience. It may be old school, but there's no way around getting out in front of the people & performing to see if you have what it takes or not.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Remember it's Shaadie like Rashaad, not Shady like Shade. Yeee
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I have many projects available worldwide through digital distribution as well as hard copies that I have pressed up that I keep on hand at all times for the public to purchase. All you have to do is Google search "Shaadie" or search the name in any music site or platform you use (i.e. Spotify, Soundcloud, DatPiff, Reverbnation, Amazon, iTunes etc) & I guarantee you will find my music
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depending on the type of deal I would always keep signing a major deal in consideration. The pros & cons that come with that would be detailed in the type of deal you are getting & willing to negotiate before signing. I personally would love to get major distribution & marketing behind my Mac Life Ent company that I created and run along with my brother Brandon "KB" Henry thru a major label in order to keep a lot of what I've built on my own as well as the content and rights to the material I want to produce and distribute to the public.
Any last words?
First & Formosa shoutout to my wife & kids and he whole Nunnally Nation. Shoutout to my Mac Life company, my mFM (Music Family Money) co-op & my Fam 1st Family. Much love to All my Baydestrians from my neighborhood of The 3C's (Country Club Crest) in North Vallejo to the deepest parts of Oakland all the way to EPA. Shoutout to all my Valley support in Sacramento, Stockton & Modesto. Shoutout to all my SoCal supporters and everyone nationwide from Vegas to Utah to New York & across the pond to London & beyond. Stay tuned & stay giving your feedback. I listen & take heed indeed.
