1 on 1 Talk With Markus Scott

Featured artist: Markus Scott - 1 on 1 Talk With Markus Scott

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Markus Scott.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Markus Scott: I decided on becoming an artist during middle school. I was always into football and I was and still am a Drake fan so I was always bumping to his music. One day I got invited to a house party in Harlem which is in New York City. And one of my friends signed me up for a rap battle that they was hosting. Now at the time I was rapping but I wasn't serious about it. And basically I 2-0 the kid in the battle, and on Facebook everyone was saying that I had bars and that I really had some skill and talent. Thats when I realized it was time to get busy and start writing some music!

The best advice I can give is to ignore every negative comment out there! People are going to put you down, their going to say your music sucks, that you cant rap. If you feed into their comments, you make all those statements true and it will show through your music.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I started out doing open mics around my city and I still do to spread my name and my movement. But outside of that I performed in a rap competition at Columbia University

Best punchline you ever wrote?

"I wasn't Kevin Hart but I made you laugh, I wasn't Mac & Cheese but you loved my craft"

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

As of now I have no projects, only singles that I been releasing on a monthly basis. But you can expect an EP in the summer of 2016

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Hmm, thats a hard one. I really want to stay independent. But if the label comes correct with the contract I just might have to sign. For pros, you basically have a team that works with you so it takes the load off your back, they can increase your fanbase, get you key features, etc. The cons are basically the dreaded 360 which I warn all indie artists to stay away from lol.

Any last words?

Shoutout to New York City, the eastside of Harlem, my family, my girlfriend, my bros, haters, and anyone who doubts my craft and skill. And you cant forget the supporters!
