Featured artist: K.O.B. - Too Turnt Up
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist K.O.B..
How did you decide to become an artist?
K.O.B.: I’ve always wanted to make my career with music. I’ve always wanted to be that artist on the radio that everyone raps along to. I want to be that new hot artist that everyone talks about. It has always been a dream of mine to create art that people can really vibe to and enjoy.
I was at an art gallery once and this man approached me and asked for my picture. After a few comments back and forth we engaged in a discussion about how the world works and how people react based on how you hold yourself. He told me ”the most important thing you can do for yourself, is to be a shark. When life snaps at you, the only way to get by is by showing your teeth.”
What about concerts? Do you play live?
We (K.O.B.) mostly do underground competitions in New York City. We compete against other artists to perform for either record labels or popular events.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
If you can’t hang with K.O.B. go back to nursery school.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
We are currently working on our first official mixtape. We have a souncloud and a youtube with a lot of our material. We also have a music video on youtube. Our next step is shooting our newest music video.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Signing a contract with a major label is very tricky. They’re investing their time and money into an individual expecting a certain performance. If you can’t give the label what they want, you’re in a lot of trouble financially. Now of course signing with a major label is amazing promotion wise. You have a whole team behind working to make you the next best thing. Me personally, I would sign with a major label. I know for a fact I poses the talent and creativity to produce bangers for this generation and next generations to come.
Any last words?
Shoutouts to all the people who show us love in our neighborhood. Shoutout to all five boroughs in NYC. Shoutout to Inwood, Dyckman, Washington Heights. Wakefield, and Riverdale.
