Featured artist: Zilla Mayne - The best in VA!!
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Zilla Mayne.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Zilla Mayne: I have always been drawn to music since a young age. I used to sing with my father all the time. As i grew older, I started coming up with my own words to songs to make them more appealing to my life. Soon I began writing full songs and thanks to puberty I realized I didn’t have the soft singing voice anymore and began to rap.
Never stop, what you write and display is your world, therefore, the world is yours.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes, I perform live around the local Richmond, Va area, and I’m looking to spread my boundaries.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
”I’m abstract when i bust a rhyme kind of coo coo; i can’t help it im just on a quest for the new school; cocky, but i got a flow that’s Godly; mixed with a little Pac a little Wayne and Chris Wallace; hince if i get a shot you’d probably think I’m the product; of the greats mixed up in a pot of Hip-Hop and; that’s fact, let me bring it back; old school new school im the bridge between that; we love Hip-Hop I can make them scream that; put they hands in the air ’cuz the really mean that”
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
Currently, I have released an album with my group Hood Committee titled The Fire of Vision. It’s available on every digital/online retailer. Also, I have released numerous mixtapes on www.datpiff.com, the latest release titled ”Better Than Anything” was release in December of 2014.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Honestly, yes if that was proposed to me due to the time and struggles im facing now. A few cons that i can see, I would have less freedom as an indipedent artist, I would be liable for alot of loans that would have to be paid back.
Any last words?
I have to say thanks to my fans, family, and God for giving me the strength to keep pushing forward. Also to my group members Ike Burna and J.E., the Tri-City area of Virginia.
