Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Janaida Marii.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Janaida Marii: I’ve been in performing arts since I was 6 years old. My father and mother always said that they caught me singing around the house at a young age. It wasn’t until 2011, that i gotten into the studio and realized that my craft was more than just stage plays and singing around the house, i actually had a true gift. I’ve been working hard on my image and my sound and focusing on the upcoming year to showcase all of my growth.

You have to want to be successful as much as you want to breathe.

- Janaida Marii

What about concerts? Do you play live?

Yes I do Showcases and Concerts.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

I’m just a rose that grew from concrete trying to
- Janaida Marii

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I released an EP a year ago. I will be releasing a new song called Don’t Wanna Leave January 5th, 2015 digitally.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

It’s dependent upon what the specific contract was stating. Most underground artist want the money so bad, they don’t look at the fine print. Also, having your own foundation and your own fanbase before bringing anything to a label is a much better resource. You show them that you have something as important to bring to the table which makes for better negotiations. Nothing is impossible.

Any last words?

I would like to give a shoutout to my affiliates: Edgar Antonio( From.Da.Ground. Up), DJMRCEO ( The One ENT), Angel Maldanado (Purfek Storm& Empire Management). I’d also like to shoutout a few amazing artist that are paving the way in the underground: Twelve Oh One, Jay- Nyce, E-dawgz from Uptown, and Mo Nicole.
