Featured artist: Ryan Gratil - If you’re tired of reading the same old thing, this right here is your visine.
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Ryan Gratil.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Ryan Gratil: Well the legacy started in 5th grade. I asked my teacher if I could tell my short stories after lunch hour. It became like an open mic night once or twice a week. I eventually started freestyling in junior high and I listened to music so much in high school beats were starting to form as tumors on my brain. I released my first track after I graduated high school and it’s been a great trip ever since.
The best advice I’ve ever received came from an inanimate object- Just do it.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I’ve performed once at a talent show for 200 people. I haven’t figured out how to get gigs yet but I’m working on it.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
GTMO from these bars than you get from the prison. (Gitmo/get more, gitmo is the prison known as guantanamo bay , Cuba.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I just finished a 4 song EP and I’m working on my first album.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yeah. Pros would be I’d get promotion, someone to fund my music, and some stability. The cons would be I’d have to sit in meetings which is hard since I’ve got some of the worst ADD in existence.
Any last words?
Anyone with a dollar and a dream and Gilbert, Arizona. You might have to Google earth that.
