Featured artist: Aria Royalty - Royalty Mixtape One
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Aria Royalty.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Aria Royalty: I’ve been listening to rap since I was 4 and have always loved it. I see a lot of shitty artists coming up and I don’t think they deserve it. I feel like I could try to stop it or something and maybe help in bringing back the true nature of the genre by being old school.
No matter how much money or fame you get, never stop being yourself.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I don’t play live yet but plan on it soon once I release my mixtape
Best punchline you ever wrote?
To be us you gotta snort crack wire 3 to 4 tubes up your ass Swallow 10 purple pills Be ill spit real Get naked and jump off yo window sill
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m working on my first mixtape that is coming out soon.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
No I most likely wouldn’t unless it would benefit everyone in my independent label Unorthodox Music. I mean the pros are I’d get a lot more publicity and a budget that’s a lot bigger but the cons are that I could lose myself in that and I wouldn’t be doing it myself. When I make it up there with everyone else, if I do, I want to be able to feel like it was with no major connections and just support from my own people.
Any last words?
Yeah I wanna give a shout out to all of Unorthodox music. It’s the label I’ve created with 2 other guys Jay Lew and Lord Lewi and we’re doing this from the ground up. No excuses and not many connections. It’s all us in this. Also to Eddy Cutz for helping us with some beats and giving us advice. Baltimore baby.
