Sinaloa Kid Forging Ahead

Featured artist: Famás - Sinaloa Kid Forging Ahead

Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Famás.

How did you decide to become an artist?

Famás: I decided to pursue it because of poetry. I got encouraged by my middle school teacher to pursue poetry. However, I was already ebony influenced by rap because a family member was listening to it. But the point is if it weren't the words of that middle school teacher, who knows if I would be doing this.

You have to discern between good and bad advice, filtering the unnecessary stuff so that growth can take in you.

What about concerts? Do you play live?

I use to do shows at coffee shops in Downtown Long Beach. I wish I could a concert of a large magnitude; it'd be a nice experience.

Best punchline you ever wrote?

A Sinaloa kid who screams in linguistic tongues with influenced rebellion and just cause.

What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?

I'm working on school and music. I'm trying to pursue a STEM degree, while making efforts to fin studio time. I haven't necessarily released quality sound music because I don't have any official recording equipment to artistically apply myself and musically experiment with recording equipment.

Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

I would sign to a major label because your sphere of influence increases audibly. You can learn a lot from those at the top. But the cons are that your credibility reach, your credibility, that is, comes from the power established by that record label. So you question the authenticity of your reach, wondering if people love you for your music or they love your work because a major record label vouches that you can drop quality music. On the other hand, it could be a good thing because your options of living your life better increase, so working the odds to your favor, can give you potential leverage over future endeavors, if you are willing to be clever about it all. It depends, I'm learning from all of this.

Any last words?

I want to give a shoutout to Italiana, she knows where to search for Famás. I want to also give a shoutout to my homies who work the streets and friends who academically hustle to make those grades for advancement in this world. You can't knock the hustle. I want to tell México and Sinaloa that I'm thankful you birthed a Quetzalcoátl kid who unconditionally loves Los Angeles' cultural and ethnic variety because there's beauty in the golden state of Cali.
