Featured artist: Buddie Pachino - Who Is Buddie Pachino?!
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Buddie Pachino.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Buddie Pachino: I've been pursing music since I was 12 yrs old. I started out playing the drums, the keyboard, & singing in the church choir. I began writing at the age of 13 & played the trumbone in the school band when I was 14. Eventually I gained a passion for rapping & started out rapping in gym class & in the lunch room in middle & high school. I also traveled to various venues across the southeast with my high school's advanced chorus class, singing the national anthem at college games. When I was 16 yrs old a small label in my hometown of Columbus, GA discovered me rapping outside of a gas station to be heard. This is when I first began recording in the studio.
I met DMX at the Marriott in Downtown Atlanta during BET Hip Hop Awards Weekend back in 2012. His words to me were, "if you're destined to be great you will be, whether you grind to make it happen on your own or you meet someone who puts you on".
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Yes I do perform live & I've opened up various concerts from Georgia to Alabama.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
The Queen has took her thrown so its time you haters face it, my verses be the vodka my hook just here to chase it
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I've won several city wide talent shows in my hometown, along with a host of other artist showcases & talent competitions in Columbus & Atlanta. Aside from showcases & talent shows I've opened up concerts for big names such as Trina, Pastor Troy, Dirty Boyz, & more. I dropped my first solo mixtape in 2010, dropped an EP in 2015, & am currently working on a new mixtape.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes I would sign a record contract with a major label. The pros to signing with a major label in my opinion are money, connects, knowledge, guidance, marketing, promotions, distribution, exposure, record sales, & awareness. The cons to signing with a major label in my opinion are locking yourself into a long term contract, loss of creative control as an artist, you may have to give up publishing rights, the label takes their cut of all money earned by the artist, some major label deal are unfriendly to the artist.
Any last words?
I would like to shoutout my wife Deonna Thomas, my mom Tonza Thomas, my real fans & supporters, all my family & friends, the whole city of Columbus, GA, & you guys for giving me this opportunity & exposure! #LovePeaceUnity
