Featured artist: Bigg Z - Hip Hop's bigg comeback
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Bigg Z.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Bigg Z: I became an artist at the age of 14, writing poems and understanding the escapes that were possible with creativity. It wasn't until I was 17 that I started putting words into rap form. My boy Rob brought me into his home studio, and from there I was hooked. A year or two after that is when I realized it was an art form I would continue on with.
You can't please everybody, so continue making music that means something to you.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I love to put on a show in intimate settings whenever I get a chance. I just recently had a show at The Viper Room in Hollywood, CA
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I ball, point any one of them out. They don't get it. I am Angelou with the pen, let the story begin.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I'm currently working on a few projects for 2016. Look out for a J. Dilla tribute tape in the month of February
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Debatable. Distribution is something that would help anybody, but I'm not sure if a label could put curcumstances on my style of music.
Any last words?
I appreciate the people who actually take the time to listen to my lyrics and appreciate real Hip-Hop. My brother, my work crew, my people . From the Mudville representing Stockton, CA all day!
