Featured artist: Dee the Conscious One - Dee the Conscious One (of Mad Cypha) – the boom-bap representative from Ukraine.
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Dee the Conscious One.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Dee the Conscious One: I came to Hip Hop through breaking and started as the bboy back at 2000. But i have always loved music and remember myself writing songs since the school bench. So it didn't took me long to try at rap battle in my city. I won the contest even though it was my first time on the mic as hiphop emcee. Guess that was the main thing that gave me the confidence. The rest is history.
I don't mind to make papes of my music, but nothing will have me making it commercial.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
True, I do shows in Ukraine and sometimes abroad.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I send foolz back to school quick fast cause I was rockin them toolz when they only went to first class.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
We released three albums as Mad Cypha, few EPs in collaboration with fellow emceez, plenty singles and currently I'm working on my fifth LP by the name of #DEENSPIRATION.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends on conditions. I don't like to be limited, but on another hand it would be dope to have lots of hiphop fans to know my music. There's always a compromise.
Any last words?
Shouts to my Universal Zulu Nation Fam all over the Planet Rock. Big up to the fam in Frooklyn and Ukraine, partners from Mad Cypha, Ghetto Blasta and Tha Foundation.
