Featured artist: S.O.N.Y ( souljah of new york ) - On My Grind
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist S.O.N.Y ( souljah of new york ).
How did you decide to become an artist?
S.O.N.Y ( souljah of new york ): I have always loved music . I have been writting rhymes since the 6th grade. I did my first professional studio recording at age 14. I put out my first mixtape my senior year in high school. I was featured on a battle mixtape prior to that , as well as an album put by a group entitled the Titans. I learned how to record and engineer myself , then I began branding myself .
Always be knowledgeable on contracts and legal jargon.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
I do perform live .
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Ride my wave or catch a tsunami.
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I am currently working on a mixtape entitled Cut The Check.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
If the opportunity presented itself I would depending on the terms and agreements. A pro would be that there would be a major machine behind my product , and the likeliness for success would be good . A con would be not having full creative control , and not enough royalties/ownership of masters.
Any last words?
Big shout to long island , new york as well as delaware. Definitely have to shout out my squad the cartel enterprise llc , phame , d harv, stilly, and hp. As well as everyone I have ever worked with including Omillio Sparks, Young Steff, E Ness , and Gillie The Kid.
