Featured artist: Lonewolf - 90’s style Hip Hop in 2014
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist Lonewolf.
How did you decide to become an artist?
Lonewolf: I’v been making music since I was five years old, played so many different instrument and made mixtapes of music I love. When I was about 13 I started to get serious about singing and playing the guitar and I wrote about ten songs and recorded them myself. I gave copies to family and friends but didn’t get the response I wanted. When I was about 20 I started listening to some Hip Hop, I had heard a couple of tracks I liked on GTA and bought NWA’s classic album and just eventually now have heard everything I can find from the 90’s. My favourite three are : Biggie,Wu-Tang,Mobb Deep. After a while I wanted to make some myself and started keeping my eye out for sounds and riffs to get my going. I’v now been rapping and producing for only three or so years but want to take it more seriously now.
People telling me I can’t rap and why am I doing it.
What about concerts? Do you play live?
Played live once about a year ago.
Best punchline you ever wrote?
Modern day 90’s style conscious rapper
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’m working on a new album called Game Of Death, made a few tacks about two years ago that no one really liked.
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I don’t know if I would or not, but I won’t compromise my artistic integrity
Any last words?
I would but I’m doing this all on my own with no collaboration or advice from anyone. I live in Winchester in the UK and it seems like I’m an alien, no rappers no Hip Hop and no one to turn to for help or advice. People really think I’m weird when I tell them I rap :)
