Featured artist: J-KING - Who Is J-KING?!
Below is a short interview with the upcoming underground artist J-KING.
How did you decide to become an artist?
J-KING: As a child, I was raised by my mother. I never had a father. She was an excellent mother and did all she could for my older sister, younger brother, and myself. Working 12-16hrs a day, it was barely enough to keep a roof over our heads, food in our stomachs, and clothes on our backs! Seeing all the other kids playing sports and doing things with their fathers, and showing off all their new clothes and things filled me with a lot of anger and resentment. So I started writing music as a way to vent my frustrations! I would perform for my friends and other neighborhood teens. They understood my pain and could relate! I’ve been doing it since!!
Self promote as much as possible(get ur music heard), and never give up!
What about concerts? Do you play live?
There’s nothing like the adrenaline rush I get from performing live and in concerts!!
Best punchline you ever wrote?
I STR8 DON’T PLAY!!
What are you currently working on? Did you release something in the past?
I’ve released a couple singles and featured on quite a few other artists albums. As for the present I’m finishing up my debut album ”NO MERCY”!!
Last but not least: Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on the proposal!! If the signing bonus was decent, and my share of the royalties was fair! Also depends on the status of my independent marketing and self promotion. If I’ve already made a name for myself and nationally recognized with a healthy income solely from my music and artist name !!
Any last words?
I wanna thank my fatherGOD in heaven and my lord and savior JESUS CHRIST through him all things are possible!! I LOVE U!!
To my mother for always being there for me, and telling me ”if I find something I’m good at to stick with it”, I love u mom!!
To my very close friend Knowledge who really got me started making music, doing concerts and local events!! I’ve known u 16 yrs, and Uve really been there for me!! I’ll never forget u letting me stay with u and ur family when I had no where to go!! True friends like u are hard to find!! THANKS 4 EVERYTHING!!
